Two brothers who famously featured on the defunct Citizen TV show Machachri have pleaded for help.

The twins, Muthuri and Muthure, said that they fell on hard times after the show got cancelled in 2019.

Speaking to, Muthure said that they need support from their fans.

“We are asking for financial support and any acting jobs,” he said, adding that he is currently an upcoming musician.

End of Machachari

Earlier speaking to Eve Mungai, the brothers currently staying in Mwihoko, Ruiru, said they were at a loss after the abrupt end of the show.

They planned on starting another show with their former castmates but the pandemic halted their plans.

The duo said that their earnings from Machachari are what supported their family and they had no savings.

“Our mother was sick and could not work. The money paid fees for us and our sister, rent, catered for food among other bills,” they said.

Twins face disrespect

The twins said that their supposed friends started showing their true colours after they exited the show.

“Not everyone around you has good intentions, some of them wanted to take advantage of us,” said Muthuri.

They also faced insults and criticism from the people around them.

“People started disrespecting us. Being famous without money is one of the worst thing ever,” he added.

Muthure noted that they realised their only true friends were those with whom they featured on the show, including Baha and Govi.

Speaking to, Muthure encouraged other struggling artistes not to give up but also know their worth.

“Do not let anyone take advantage of you simply because you are in need.”

Onyi homeless previously reported that former The Real Househelps of Kawangware (TRHK) actor Onyi said he was homeless.

Onyi said he could not afford rent, and his three baby mamas, two of whom are based abroad, abandoned him.

He asked for any work including hosting events while noting that he has learned the value of investing.
